Reverend Catherine Y. Patterson, Associate Minister
Reverend Patterson was born in Glens Falls, New York on June 12, 1957, To Juanita Atkins. She is the third of six siblings. When she was 6 years old her mother married Tech Sergeant Charles Patterson (Air Force) and Catherine began her travels as a Military Brat. Reverend Patterson spent her early years living in Alaska, Wyoming, Michigan and finally the family settled down in Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated from East Technical High School.
She attended college in Wilberforce, Ohio, where she graduated from Central State University in 1982, with a B. A. in English/Communications and a minor in Music/Voice.
Upon Graduation from college, she moved to Saratoga Springs, New York. She is currently employed by United Health Care, a medical health insurance company.
Reverend Patterson received her call to the Gospel Ministry on January 1, 1986, and was licensed on May 17, 1987 by Reverend Minnie L. Burns and the Universal Baptist Church in Saratoga Springs, N. Y. In 1989 she attended Hartford Theological Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut and received a Certificate for the Black Ministers Program. Reverend Patterson joined Friendship Baptist Church in September of 1990 as Assistant Minister to the late Reverend Carl B. Taylor and was ordained on April 28, 1991. Her duties included Minister of Christian Education and Youth Minister. Upon Reverend Taylor's retirement in October, 1994, Reverend Patterson was appointed as the Interim Pastor, a position she held until January 1998.
